new music! Human Non Human – Profits in Command

FFO: Right Behind You, and similar artists on their Spotify page – this is not a genre that I’m too familiar with; Limp Bizkit

Have you been feeling, I don’t know, a bit anxious about the whole “the world is ending due to the crushing and oppressive forces of capitalism”-thing happening as of late? Well, so do the angsty Malmöian Human Non Human in their new EP Profits in Command, and they’re expressing it with some amount of force. Early in January they released this EP filled to the brim with funky alternativerock and punkrock attitude, containing a smidge of rap, psych, progrock, hardcore, and surfrock.

The first track struts into the room, repeatedly screaming into the mic “I don’t care about you”. Human Non Human has had enough, but they’re also hungry for more – on “Fried” they’re quite extra hungry, but also worried about consumption. They’re quite political, in a not so well-mannered way but not in the too obvious kind of way – the emotion and self-awareness displayed in the texts succeeds in never making them feel impersonal. They know that they’re cool, clever and that society is doomed – and they’re here to rock. The witty songwriting takes on multiple interesting, often exaggerated, perspectives – perhaps best exemplified in DOSH, a sick tune where the moneyhungry narrator desperately claws at the listener for their resources.

This is a collection of fun tunes, comedic commentary, and sick music – albeit depressing in its messages. Check it out on your preferred platforms and catch them live whenever they play near you next, they’re even more baller in person.
