Karl Oskar is back with a sick double single, their first release of 2025. Both tunes sound as much like Karl Oskar as we’ve come to expect and we continue to adore its nostalgic lofi sound – bright sometimes twinkly guitars, light emotional vocals and charming melodies. “another day” is a classic indierock banger seemingly about being stuck in your own footprints, never progressing financially or as your own person. Uber-pleasant emotional music that sounds as much as a sunny day as it feels like sitting alone sad in the darkness of your room. “another day” builds into an absolutely rocking halftime segment for it to come back sounding more instrumentally beautiful than Karl Oskar has ever sounded. “blinded by the lights” follows the first track’s themes of being stuck, but takes a more gentle approach to its sound only following Karl Oskar (and autotuned backing vocals?) and their guitar – showcasing them at their most vulnerable.
